Permabond staff are being kept on their toes at the Advanced Engineering Show which is on 2-3 November at the Birmingham NEC. It was great to meet the Cardiff University F1 Racing Team at the stand yesterday, Permabond has been helping with their race car build project - plenty of composites bonding going on there. Permabond is delighted to announce the launch of two new structural acrylic adhesives, TA4605 and TA4610. They have been developed to bond polyolefin materials such as polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) WITHOUT the need to pre-treat the substrate first! Benefits of these products include: Easy 1:1 mix ratio - available in 50ml cartridges, 400ml cartridges and bulk Non-hazardous for transport No need to flame, corona or plasma treat parts = massive cost saving (and space saving as no bulky equipment is required) No need to handle hazardous chemical etchants Good adhesion to a wide variety of plastics, metals, composites and many other materials. Picture shows that TA4610 has such high strength adhesion to PP, that the plastic stretches to the point of snapping before the bond fails! Permabond's new range of MMA-based structural acrylic adhesives is now available. MMAs are typified by their rapid cure, fast strength development combined with ultra-high shear and peel strength and the ability to bond to a multitude of different surfaces. They are found in a wide range of applications including automotive, aerospace, composite bonding, wind turbines, magnet bonding (for speakers and motors) and many more! They have excellent resistance to impact and vibration stresses and excellent environmental durability. THE NEW RANGE COMPRISES: Permabond TA4200: a 1:1 mix ratio pre-mix acrylic (dispense using a gun and mixing nozzles). Rapid cure speed and high strength performance. TA4210 is very similar but with a longer cure time - so more suitable for larger components that require accurate alignment or where a longer nozzle-life is desired. Permabond TA4202: Two part pink & green methyl methacrylate. This can be used with nozzles or bead-on-bead if preferred. This product cures rapidly to form and extremely high strength bond. Permabond TA4204 & TA4205: Are high strength "crystal clear" structural adhesives which give an excellent finished appearance, they can be used with mixing nozzles or bead-on-bead without nozzles. These products lend themselves to the bonding of glass, polycarbonate and acrylic and can help manufacturers move away from solvent welding of plastics. They are also suitable for bonding metals, ceramics, composites and many other materials. These new high-quality products have been designed and manufactured at Permabond's new factory in the South of England and are available for sample trials and purchase. Permabond Engineering Adhesives Ltd has recently opened an new production plant and research and development centre in Winnall, Hampshire, UK. The new site has already started developing and manufacturing new products with shipments going out to UK customers and to export markets overseas. The new factory is a particular boost to customers wanting custom formulations as the plant equipment lends itself to both small and large batch adhesive production allowing more flexibility with minimum order quantities, freshness of product and local supply to Permabond's large UK customer base.
